Palette Series: Urban Decay Naked on The Run

Palette Series: Urban Decay Naked on The Run ($54 USD)

I just got this in the mail and I had to write on it before everyone else did.  But it has been a while but here is another addition to my palette series.  This one is from Urban Decay.  Their Naked line has made millions with their Naked palettes.  Also we are all still debating whether to venture out and try their other naked products.
So it's genius to find everything in one "travel friendly" pack.

Taken from Sephora:
A limited-edition, all-in-one travel palette loaded with exclusive eye shadows, blush, bronzer, lip gloss, and mascara—everything needed for a complete Naked makeup look.
The looks you can create are very nuetral and more on the rose gold side.  Though it claims to have brand new shades.  it looks very similar to the Naked palette 3.

A. Perversion Mascara - slimmer deluxe version (.13oz) [a full size is .4oz in case your wondering]
B. 24/7 Glide on Pencil in black or zero (deluxe size)
C. Naked Ultra Nourishing Lip Gloss in Sesso (Full Size, Woo Hoo!)
D. Five Eye shadows in Dive (metallic rose/gold micro-shimmer), Fix (soft taupe matte), Resist (medium metallic taupe), Dare (medium brown matte), Stun (metallic bronze/light gold micro-shimmer)

E. Bronzer ( a bit orangey for me)
F. Blush (very bright and pigmented, use a careful hand)
G. Highlight

Percentage of FACE it covers: 70%
Face (Foundation)
Blush - Yes
Eyeshadows(3) - Yes
Concealer
Bronzer/ Contour - Yes
Eyeliner - Yes
Setting powder
Highligter - Yes
Mascara - Yes
Lipstick/Lipgloss - Yes

Travel Friendly? Yes
Can you double up on products? Yes
Does it include application tools? No
Mirror? - Yes
Do you need additional application tools? Yes
Factors of uniqueness:
All in one feature of the naked products
Still need to bring: Face products

You can double up on the products use  "Dare" as a eyebrow powder  and the highlight can be mixed with the shadows for a new look.

The packaging is very similar to the Vice palettes, a bit of a cheap plastic that could split and shatter if dropped.  Though it's called travel friendly, my reccommendation is still be very careful when travel with it.
It would have been nice to include at least one double ended eyeshadow brush with it but I think they wanted to get out the products more.  And you do get alot of product for the same price of a regular naked pallete.  A full size of the Naked Nourishing Lip gloss will already cost you 20 dollars. the eye shadows alone are already (.4oz) compared to .03oz of the VICE and .05oz of the naked pallete 3.

If you are into the rose gold brown nuetrals of Urban Decay, you will love this.  But as a makeup lover I am sure I cannot just travel with this palette without lugging around a few more products to make THIS palette work for me. Palette available on Urban Decay website, Sephora and Ulta.  But I think this might be put in the back of my closet or returned.

Make Up For Ever Fifty Shades of Grey Makeup

Who read the books?  I did.  Who is going to see the movie?  I will.  Who wants the makeup? . . . I DO I DO.  That's right my blogreaties you can now paint your face a subtle pink, as if Christian Gray himself is spanking that pink on your backside.

Make Up For Ever is now launching a Fifty Shades of Grey Collection.  All pictures courtesy  of Make Up For Ever.  I think these are perfect colors that fit the Anastasia Steele character, very neutral and soft.

“Give In to Me” — features a four-eye-shadow palette, eyeliner, lipstick and lip gloss.( pictured left) Tease Me” lip trios which include a lip liner and two lip glosses (pictured right), retailing for $32 each

"Desire Me" Blush trio w/ velvet pouch ($49 USD)

Though I will probably buy it because I love me the neutrals I will buy it for the namesake.  BUT Sign me up for the Christian Grey line!  I am picturing, cool colors of course some greys and blues. Oh and instead of a velvet pouch I would love a faux silk pouch similar to Christian Grey's tie!  Argh, can you imagine!  But this will strictly be at Sephora available in December.  Ah nothing says happy holidays like thoughts of a red room.  Fifty Shades of Grey the movie will tease us for Valentines Day 2015.

New Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow

New from Milani: Gel powder Eyeshadow

Gel formulas - I see it everywhere.  Gel eyeliners, Gel moisturizers, and gel nail polishes all companies are trying their latest advertisment campaigns and adding GEL.

Benefits of Gel -  Doesn't dry out, applies easily, enhances color, lasts longer.

As usual I was skeptical.  Gel powder?

Milani Cosmetics is always  a hit or miss with their products.  Lately it's their lip products that have been getting the best press.  Yet I haven't hear much from their eye products.

Milani Cosmetics:

A gel powder – what would that even look like? We’ll tell you: It looks like rich, vibrant color that glides on in a single stroke, delivering a stunning multi-dimensional effect. What makes it a gel powder? Well, the formula starts as a gel and then is transformed by a special process into a stunning powder eyeshadow with pure color and power wear.

The unique process allows you to blend this incredibly innovative, weightless formula easily with your fingertips to light up your eyes. Even more to entice: It can be used wet or dry, resists creasing, and comes in satin matte, shimmer and iridescent metallic finishes. You just have to try this gel powder. It’s that different.

I picked up two colors from CVS.  Bella Taupe and Bella Black.  Yes I know two of the most boring colors of the line.  BUT here are my reasons.  One,  its fall,  why in the heck would I pick up fuchsia during fall.  Two,  if these claim to rich vibrant color, black would be the best test.  Finally third,  if gel is suppose to last then I am excited to sport a smokey eye with the taupe.

If you see these pictures they looked promising.  The black could have bee darker but i was excited to see what it looks like on the lids.  See below with the swipe test I swatched MAC soft ochre then swiped the shadows.  The primer did it's job and you can see the difference.

Finally I applied it to the lids.  I put primer only on one side.  AS you can see from the pick there are some differences.

The without is without primer and I used the MAC soft Ochre on the lid with the "with"  I tried to blend to the best of my ability for both lids.  The one without the primer I actually had a difficult time.  so much so it turned pink if you can tell.

Final thoughts -  Don't believe the hype.  These Milani Eyeshadows are a hit and miss.  You MUST use a primer.  Though I have not tried it wet. But I am not the type that uses my shadows wet.  If theres a crazy sale,  pay and play with them But in the long run I suggest stick to your "go to" shadow brand for now.

Compare Maybelline Brow Drama and NYX Brow Gel

Oh its ON!  I was able to get me a tube of the NYX Eyebrow gel and OMG I love it.

From this picture alone, colorwise it is very similar.

NYX is far more noticable than the Maybelline.  I know I already have have pretty full brows but this fills it in very well without being obvious.

BLOGREATIES ALERT - My First posted VIDEO!
This is a quick two minute video on a one shot comparison of the two products.

Review: Maybelline Brow Drama Gel

From my previous post you know i have been focusing on brows.  Even though I am curious about the NYX pigmented brow gel. So I was wandering aimlessly around CVS and I found this:

Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara (8.29 USD)

Maybelline New York Eye Studio Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara is Maybelline's first brow mascara that defines arches with the first-ever Sculpting Ball Brush. A colored gel tints brows and provides an even, natural, comfortable hold. No clumping. No flaking.

I had a a 5 dollars off a 15 dollar puchase.  I thought that this would be a good alternative for the NYX brow gel I cant get my hands on.  I picked up a soft brown becuase I didn't want to go dramatic  dark. weird brush.  I didn't want to mistake it for a mascara.  I thought the formula would be thicker.  Kinda looks like bird doo with this swatch.

So you can tell (or NOT at all) that this didn't do anything special to enhance, fill in or anything really.  I was hoping to have the rich pigmented results as promised.

My final thoughts are, this stuff didn't work for me.  I know you saw the reviews on YouTube, some were good but I agree with the bad.  The brush is a joke,  way too big to disperse product and have it only on your brow.  This stuff is not pigmented.  I will probably have to see the dark brown to truly see a difference.  But save the 10 bucks.

New Palettes from Cherry Culture

My blogreaties already know my stance on this website Cherry Culture,  Also you may not already know BUT I love me some palettes.  These "Strip Collection" palettes are the lastest installment of Cherry Culture brand makeup.  I saw the jumbo eye and lip crayons but personally I didn't see much on them to buy them, so I didn't.

But i am excited about these.  Looking at the colors they seem to be on the warm nuetral side of things which could be a bad thing, speakin on variety.  But I may pick up one, how about you?

Also don't these remind you of NYX I Love Paris palettes?

In Search For: NYX Eyebrow Gel

Have you heard of this suff yet.  This is the newest product from NXY.  Brows are the biz now, the fuller the better.   For those who spent years getting them brows as skinny as twigs,  bigger is better.  Not to mention it makes one look younger.

Okay so what so great? this is NOT the clear stuff.  This is a HIGHly pigmented brown gel that is to create fuller natural looking lashes and help those unruly hairs stay in place.  This formula is waterproof.

Of course I am skeptical.  But I how am I suppose to try out if I can't find it.  Sold out on the NYX website and its not even sold at Ulta.  Ebay is your best bet but be prepare to spend money on it.

Good Luck my blogreaties.

I'm Back! Crazy Discount on Mehron

Hautelook has Mehron on SALE RIGHT NOW!!!

I love the full coverage performance makeup like Kryolan and Cinema Secrets.  I thinks it the theatre nerd in me.  This makeup is the fullest coverage and is the strongest to hold up to anything.

So I was surprised to see another theatre quality brand on Hautelook MEHRON!

Take a look at the discount.

on the Mehron Website, tak a look at this HD Highlight and Countour Palette retailing at almost 80 bucks online.

Look on Hautelook 50% off.  Holy crap I had to have it.  Especially since more and more are getting into contour and highlighting thanks the artist who work on Kim Kardashian.

My favorite professional makeup store CRC Camera Ready Cosmetics sells Mehron Brand and they carry the pressed pigment palettes for 56 buck while hautelook is selling it for 26.50

Now that I got that off my chest,  I should mention that Hautelook does not offer Mehron's entire line of makeup but only a few items.  Though for the few items that are available they ARE offered at a great discount and the items are great quality you wont be disappointed.
Check out the event on Hautelook it ends Friday 8am Pacific time.

NEW Benefit They're Real Push-up Liner

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner ($24 USD)

I got a sample of this from Generation Beauty and I didin't try it our until a week later.
IT'S AWESOME.
This actually does what it claims,  it's so simple I don't know why this hasn't been though of before. It's as rich and long wearing as a gel liner But has the acuracy and sharpness of a liner pen.  Perfect just perfect.  Love Luv Love. Below are the claims taken from  the Benefit website

It’s the FIRST EVER lash-hugging gel liner in a pen! This matte black gel formula won’t smudge, budge or dry out, and the innovative soft AccuFlex™ Tip hugs your lashline from corner to corner. The closer the line, the bigger the eye!

91% said it was longwearing*
81% said it was waterproof*
88% said it hugged the lashline*
84% said eyes looked visibly larger*
*Results observed in a consumer panel survey on 32 women after 2 weeks

When I had first taken the product out of the box I thought the tip was a typical liquid liner pen yet with a sharp as a knife point.  Check it out,  that is in fact a rubber tip and it dispenses a gel liner type formula.  I was wondering why there was a stopper cap in it.

But this hugs the lashes so well - no gaps here.

Check out this subtle winged liner usually it takes a few tries to get a clean line but this  makes it so much faster.  This saves time -  You should try it Annette!!

Whether you get the sample size or full size both can properly demonstrate the key points of the liner.   I know not everything is perfect.  The following are my “Eh” points of the Benefits They’re Real Push-up Liner:
·        In the very beginning of using the product you have to click until you see the product come out of the tip.  I recommend to wipe the excess, which I hate because it’s a waste of product and at 24 dollars I don’t want to waste this.
·        This creates an even layer of product.  Some may think it’s too thick making it look too heavy of a liner.
·        The finish is a dark matte. That may not be for everyone.
Final Thoughts:  I love this product. I have used this everyday just to widen these tired eyes during my ten hour work days.  It stays all day,  yes it’s a bit of a pain to wash off but  it lasts.  This can be used for the no makeup look to Kat Von D cat eye.  This is sold online on benefit, Ulta and Sephora.  I recommend to pick up a sample and play away.

Generation Beauty 2014 Haul

Free Stuff was really the main reason we all went to Generation Beauty May 31st to June 1st, 2014.  Personally I thought that it was going to be like Halloween.  We all go around in painted faces and ask for goodies.  Makes sense.  Nope.  In my previous post I wrote that free swag was obtained if you worked hard on social media (i.e. twitter, instagram, facebook etc.)
The Happy Hour was the only exception.  Happy hour happened at the very last hour of each day of the conference.  At registration we were given tickets which had the different name of the brands that were at the convention.  This was very misleading.  We thought that we had to pick one of the brands on the tickets in hopes that they will have enough.  Yea i thought I had to pick between Benefit and Cargo Cosmetics. Good thing was that after asking multiple people, we found out that it was all the same goodies.

Below is a list of everything with the retail price of each product.

If you are a number gal like me you will appreciate my hard work and effort in stating that the total value of the FREE swag is almost 10 times the price I paid for the GenBeauty ticket.  So looking at this I am secound guessing if I should go next year.  Some of the brands of the products I recognized.  Yet many brands I was unfamiliar with and in my research I came to the conclusion that many of these brands were drugstore quality and price.  There are some gems on this list but I noticed they were big last year or last season.  So did we just get the overstock?  probably but I will not refuse a chance to try new stuff.

Generation Beauty 2014 Post Event

Disclaimer:  Views expressed on this post are my own and of my comrades who went with me and DO NOT express the views of GenBeauty and/or Ipsy.
Blogreaties you can guess that this post may not necessarily be a stellar review on the event.  :(  I know you want to see the Haul but that will be in the next post (which i assure you is GOOD)

The words I will put out on the event would be,  Disorganized, Hot, Exhausting, and Confusing.

DISORGANIZED: We arrived to LA Live at  7:45 am, streched out legs and picked up some grub at the nearby starbucks.  According to the website, registartation was to start at 9am.  Um No that didn't happen.  There were no signs on where to go,  LA Live security placed around the building who didn't even know what event we were talking about.  I just kept thinking "Just keep smiling, just keep smiling."  I know that there was pre-registration the night before so we did see women with the pink placards around their neck.  I knew we were in the right place. We followed them into a parking structure and saw them check-in with a security guy with a clip board.  I asked him if this is the Generation Beauty event and where do we check in. "I dunno," he said. [Tip: "Just keep smiling, just keep smiling." You can catch more fly with honey than vinegar,  be polite when asking questions] This was the enterance and it started the game of "What time is check in?" 9am?  10? 10:30?  Who really knows.  But we knew FORM THE LINE!

HOT:   The event was located on top of the parking structure.  We were allowed to walk up there after a hap hazzard registration process while standing in line in a parking lot.  We should have just stayed in the parking structure.  But hey I was excited.  We run up the stairs and was greeted with music and white light.  That light was the sun and we were in LA on pavement HOT HOT HOT. [Tip:  Bring some sort of sun cover and wear sunscreen!] It was still going to be another hour before they open the doors.  All of the covers were for the people standing in line to check in.  But since they did that downstairs everybody was standing in the open sun waiting for the doors to open.

EXHAUSTING:  Standing in lines Line lines lines!  Who is more exhausted? my *bleeping* cell phone.  Hashtag this, post that, take a selfie with this product,  all of this for a chance to win a free product? My battery was yellow by mid day.  [Tip: Bring a Portable Charger for your cell] It was funny, the first day you can see all the girls wear their high heels and look tall and glamourous.  Day two those same girls FLATS all the way. [Tip:  Wear comfortable shoes, you will be standing A LOT] There were not many places to sit or hang out inside.  Every seat was an oasis and not to mention designed for photos ops galore.  So you couldn't sit there long because other people wanted to take pictures in the seats.
CONFUSING:  I kept calling it a Beauty Conference.  Conferences are suppose to be for networking , meet people in person that are in the same line of interests in hopes to make connections around the country.  Well these "seminars" were a joke.  None of the presenters were prepared. Scheduled topics turned into Q&A session SNORE!!!  People we know more about these people because we watch them everyday on YouTube!  I already know what inspires them or what their favorite makeup product is.  I pretty mush spent money to technically watch my youtube channels live!  :(  Well you would assume that the brands would have MAD sales and discounts.  NOPE!  what?!?  you're not selling products. Really the only brand that was selling products was crown brush.  That has an interesting story that I can have at the very end after this.

IPSY IF YOU ARE READING THIS - TAKE NOTES!  Final Thoughts:  Ipsy you will need to get your *bleep* straight.  If you want to inspire your attendees and build up the YouTube Beauty Universe,  I suggest to go old SChool.  Take away the cell phones  make the attendees see real people and force us to talk to each other.  We spend our time glued to the screens watching youtube,  I personally didn't want to go to LA to be glued to another screen (my Cell) to network.  Have smaller tents around the main one to separate vendors and seminars.  Music was playing in the big tent during these seminars.  The poor gurus couldn't hear us and we were sure crowded enough to strain to hear them.  Have More coverage for your attendees,  bigger eating areas with shade.  Have a charging station for our cell phones.  Can we charge our phones while we are watching youtube videos from the guest Beauty gurus?  I made a goal to atleast meet the gurus that I watch daily and I did that.  Thanks to GenBeauty it did make me think.  It sadly made me rethink if I really want to get in this business.  But rest assured the ones I was actually able to meet and take pics with were everything I hope they would be.  THANK GAWD.  These very appreciative thank you's go to Promise Phan (dope2111) Judy and Benjmin Travis (ItsJudyTime & BenjiManTV)  I will definitely keep following.

SCroll Down for the DIRT

                                                                                 \/

I am sorry Michelle Phan but thanks to GenBeauty it made us think of you differently.  Really?  This is your thing,  you are the front face of ipsy and you didn't prepare anything?  We have known about this for a year and you couldn't have your team prepare something to keep the facade?  Boo to you Michelle Phan.
Boo to the Food Trucks! We went to this truck that I guess was a asian/indian/mexican cuisine  (bad food choices ipsy)  everything was way to heavy and hot to scarf down in heat and be expected to feel beauty after it?   I ordered a simple teriyaki chicken and rice. 8 bucks

Eww M-R-E's are more appetizing than this.  Check out the liquid piling up in the back!  GROSS  The Chicken was boiled more than the rice.

Boo to the planners of the schedules and planners of the perks.  You know that ItsJudyTime is uber popular by having FOUR channels on youtube.  Did you really need to schedule her meet and greet a half hour before the Free Swag Give outs?  I assume you made everyone including Judy feel bad by not having enough time.  And the Perks,  a poor model who was working all day was denied her goody bag because she was a worker even though she legitimately had a ticket to get one.  Ipsy I would pay more If I knew there were different stages of perks.  Maybe 40 bucks more on the ticket would get me full size products, access to front of the lines and free makeover.  Just a thought.

Would I go again?  Maybe.  I would definitely go to IMATS over GenBeauty.  Atleast IMATs I could buy what i wanted at the end of their lines.  Is the free stuff worth it?  YES!  My friend Annette was happy.  Stay tuned for the next Generation Beauty 2014 post because it's all about the HAUL!

Generation Beauty 2014 (Pre Event Thoughts)

May 31st - June 1st 2014 at LA Live
Who is Going?  I am! I am!  I am so excited but nervous as hell to go.  Everybody over there are practically models, walking around in their high heels. Arg!?  how in the heack can a short chubby girl even be in the same photo frame of all the you tube beauty Gurus, Michelle Phan, Promise Phan, Judy Travis and Charisma Star.  Yes who will all be scheduled to be there.  AHh1 makeup nerd overload.
Check out where this will be held ( see below)

This is the mecca of online youtube beauty.  Generation Beauty was the brainchild of IPSY which if you don't know is a company that was started from the You Tube Beauty Gurus headed by Michelle Phan.  Who in just a matter of a year can now be seen all over the world due to her brand new makeup brand EM cosmetics and a national Dr. Pepper ad campain.  You tube Gurus along with big brand names will hold workshops of tips and tricks for the beauty guru in all of us.

I  hope to treat this as a professional networking conference.  I am going with my Friend Annette ( She went with me to IMATs) and my husband!  i know I know what was I thinking.  But hey he is pretty enough to pass as a makeup artist.  But lets face it, we are all there for the free stuff!  It's looking like all the brands that were seen in the glam bags of ipsy will have their best swag to play with and give away.  YES!!!

Tickets are still available at regular price click here for the link. Yes I am fully aware that the tickets are 150 bucks but for the ammount of money that I spend on makeup the free swag totally make up for it.  I will write my entire experience after hopefully in two posts if I am good (Wish me luck on that) So my blogreaties I will attend.  As usual if you recognize me I would love to meet you and we can totally hang and take pix.  I hope it will be fun and I hope to see some blogreaties there.

New Loreal Miss Manga Mascara

L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara ($8.99 USD)

Manga eyes!  we all have seen them,  But has L'oreal found the secret?  Manga Eyes to be specific the lashes are always thick long and black. I had to pick it up as soon as I saw it.

Check out this Brush!   This is the funkiest brush I have ever seen from a Drugstore.   The length of the bristles are all crazy lengths.  The formula is very thick and dry.

This is after only one application.  What do you blogreaties think?!?  Eh!  At least you can see a difference but you have to admit the formula made my lashes crazy straight!  If you take a look at the L'oreal advertisment I can only assume that they are banking on the the Clumpy spider-like lashes.

My final thoughts are save your money you Otaku beauties out there!  Yet this mascara sure did insprire me for the look below.  But I did have to bust out with the falsies  to achieve this manga look.  If you are interested how I got this look, stay tuned for the next post.
